OBBC on Tour
Updated 03/01/2023: I am in the process of putting together the final touches for our 2023 weekend tour to Eastbourne which is a three night stay with 4 matches played over the period Friday 12th May to Monday 15th May. We will be staying at The Haddon Hall hotel on a half board basis with two matches in Eastbourne, one in Hastings and one in Chichester on the way home. A smart coach will take us there and back and a likely smaller one will be used to get us to the matches (to reduce the costs).
On the experience of our last four weekends away you will be getting a good bowling experience on good greens with friendly opposition and there is always the apris bowls fun to enjoy. A few of our regulars this year cannot make the dates but we have two new couples on board who will be very welcome. We normally manage to take about 30 from Old Basing and fill up with a few friends from neighbouring clubs to make up the ideal party of 35.
There is still room for anyone who hasn't been before and we would love to welcome some of the new bowlers who have joined the club in recent times. There is nothing intimidating about the bowling levels, very similar to friendly matches and this is a great chance to get to know your club colleagues a little better. Non playing partners are also always welcome if they want a weekend away - there are usually plenty of things happening aside from the bowling. The all in cost will be in the region of £250 each.
I have paid the non returnable deposit of £250 to the hotel from the £400 that was over from last year's trip to Devon so there is no deposit required for those who are going.
I will post a list of the people who are joining us on the tour in the Club but please let me know in reply to this Email if you wish to be added to that list. The more the merrier.
Kind Regards - and wearing my Presidential hat, a Happy New Year to you all,
Maurice Hockley
We have lost 3 members of the Tour party who have had to pull out for personal reasons. Thus we have vacancies to fill.
Are there any members of the club who have not toured before and would like to give it a go or others who would like to come on board but didn't come forward before. Any interest to Maurice please, asap.

WELL, WHO’s COMING?
Maurice Hockley
A merry band of 34, including three welcome jolly guests from local rivals Basingstoke Town, took to the road on Friday 17th May for a weekend tour of North Somerset.
The weather was OK for May, the company was in appropriate demob mood, and we set out to take those cider drinking yokels to the cleaners – and we almost did winning two of our three matches and coming close second in the other.
We thoroughly enjoyed the up market facilities that they seem to take as normal at clubs in that part of the world and did our best to contain our envy. The hosts at the three clubs gave us a warm welcome and seemed to enjoy our company.
We adopted the coach driver, had a bit of fun at his expense and he responded by taking us on touring runs to Clevedon and Cheddar. The hotel threw in some evening entertainment which got the girls on the move whilst some of the ?lads? slunk away for real ale sanctity.
We arrived in a good mood and departed in similar fashion – seems we are going somewhere else next year – this touring lark is catching on.
